EVENT - Ellenium Mists - OOC Info

What is the Ellenium mist? Well, Ellenium is a highly unstable element that the island of Promitto is rich in-- powering the Steamgears, allowing for cool technology to be created, and for it to cause wacky environmental disturbances.

Hence the lovely hallucinatory mist that's rolled in! How it affects your character is totally your call. Just want them to get lost and have a day or two of silly hijinks? Go for it! Want them to hear and/or see their dead friends somewhere just out of reach? Bring on the delicious pain. In the end it's all an illusion conjured by their imagination, helped along thanks to the Ellenium influence.

The one thing that could be fact instead of fiction are the shady creatures that flicker at the edge of your vision. Attempting to follow or chase will usually result in nothing more than a romp through the fog, and can be handwaved/played out with no mod input. However if you would like a chance at maybe meeting something real, with real danger and Real Teeth(tm), comment here and we can RNG if you'll have a close encounter or not. Otherwise, go nuts and have fun!

Feel free to drop any questions here, use this as a base for plotting, ect. This has been left open-ended and flexible on purpose to allow you to play (and not play) what you want!

Day Ratio Change/Pre and Post Event plotting!

Hello all! Again, apologies for our recent slowdown (and then grinding halt) in game activities. And thank you all for being so understanding during this wonky time.

First off, we have the official IC to OOC day ratio change! It is going to a 1:4 scale instead of the 1:1 scale that was just too fast considering that we’re so small and both the player base and mods have busy lives! This will mean that each IC day is spread across four of ours; I’ll have a calendar going up soon of which day is what both IC and OOC.

Officially things will “restart” so to speak this Sunday, March 23rd, which will be the IC day of Friday, February 14th as per the Siren’s Call original event track. We’ll use the new day ratio from then on.

And now, onto the fun stuff! Please do use this post for event plotting. We’ll be wrapping this even up with a log, where our new NPC Jaqueline will be transporting those who want to be a part of the rescue party to Siren’s Rock. Jingfei will be your NPC for CR during this event, as she’s worried about the kidnapped girls and will be accompanying you. Those who might want CR with Jaqueline will have to contact Ana-mod to work out what you’d like to hand wave.

The log will have two parts, the initial fight with the mermaids and the actual rescuing of your fellow residents. Be warned though, the mermaids are not going to give up their prizes easily, and their enraptured guests may not want to leave! Killing a mermaid will have IC repercussions because of course the other mermaids will not be pleased. If you do feel as though your character needs to slay one, it will need to be mod approved! Injuring them is of course fine—as is getting injured in return. Note that there is a death penalty if you want your character to die, but there’s no obligation for fatalities. (Unless death by mermaid is your thing man)

The end of this event will lead into the beginnings of the next event. Jade Harely will notice that she has a key on a chain around her neck. How it got there or what it’s to is a complete mystery. You’ll have to wait to you get back to shore to puzzle this one out…

First Activity Check

Hello all! This is our first AC post, which will be bi-monthly after this. This round no activity is required. This is just a simple check in with your characters and journal(s) to stay in game until next the next AC post. Please respond below with your characters if you want to keep playing!

Next month however AC will require proofs to pass, which are 5 comments (from you--comment spam DOES NOT COUNT as more than ONE comment) in a thread/threads AND one Network post, OR one post in the logs community, OR 10 comments from you in a thread/threads.

Event threads from the Valentine’s Day Mermaid Rescue event will count toward the next AC! The next post will be going up mid-April, and we have lots of things planned between now and then. C:

February Event: Siren's Call Sign-Ups

February. Love is hanging in the air, gently. But there's an ominous sense to it. Especially the closer one gets to the port. And there's a good reason why. You see, there's something lurking there. And starting February 7th those lurking things will be seeking company the only way they know how: singing.

That's right, Promitto is on an island surrounded by ocean. And in that ocean dwells mermaids. And while they seem nice and friendly at first, they aren't for long. As the new NPC who will be crashing in on February 9th will tell you, mermaids fall in love easily. The problem is that when they fall in love with humans, they eventually want to eat them.

But their song doesn't affect everyone. In fact, the mermaids know how to tailor songs to catch specific people--the one they've fallen for. And that's where the sign-ups come in.

Reply to the subthread below if you would like your character kidnapped. Only one character per player, please. Kidnapped characters will be taken by the mermaids to a sea cave and treated like queens the entire time they are gone, doted on by the sea-dwelling women.

On the February 14th, our new NPC will be taking those left who wish to help on a rescue mission. She knows mermaids well enough and knows how to trick them. Characters on all sides can get hurt in this event.

If you have any questions, they will be answered below, and there is a subthread for them.

Ellenium Surge

This week, the Ellenium that’s both buried beneath Promitto and the refined ore that powers parts of the city is going to go haywire. This Ellenium surge is going to react with the atmosphere and create a dense fog that engulfs both the city and most of the island. The Lighthouse and Siren’s Rock are unaffected, but unless a character is nearby or stumbles upon it, they will be unaware of this.

What does this mist do? Beyond darkening the sky and making for conditions of low visibility, it will cause those exposed to it to have hallucinations. What, how, where, and why are all up to the mun; They could see loved ones in the mist, or unimaginable horrors, or even rainbow unicorns. How much they’ll be affected and what they’ll see is totally up to you! Ellenium is a mysterious and fickle thing, and perhaps its effects will even wane and wax on your character.

The Steamgears will also be acting up during the event. You might not be able to form a decent connection with the network, or your posts might end up in a different formant than intended. Your Steamgear might even turn itself on and off at the most inopportune times.

This event starts today (Sunday, January 26, 2014) and will officially end this Saturday (Saturday, February 1st, 2014). As always, backdating is allowed! Any questions can be asked in the comments below.

A Note for the previous event (the steam animals): It’s 100% okay to handwave the details of your characters participation in this event. We apologize for dropping the ball, and those who follow the mod’s plurk will know the details of how real life caught up with us all. We thank you though for sticking with us, and we’re going to put everything we’ve got into making this game fun for everyone!

Hey guys, I've been putting this off 'cause I really wanted to get into this game, but I need to rip the band-aid off. Due to a variety of factors, I haven't really been able to get off to a good start as I'd like to, and since my work schedule is going to be getting very busy very soon, I figured it would be best to drop rather than sitting on hiatus.

I hope to come back when things have calmed down IRL! Maybe with a different character, who knows.

Hihi, my name is Caleb and I'm new here. I brought with me Shu Shirakawa from Super Robot Wars. She's a Fem!AU and she's completely awesome. And prefers to go by Dr. Shirakawa.

Anyway, she's kind of a villain but is more there in the games to urge the protagonists on in the direction she'd prefer them to go. Shu builds giant mechs though. Usually the kind that can control gravity. She uses them to blow up gods and doesn't afraid of anything.

She also has a tiny bird familiar who talks shit while Shu is always super polite.

I can be caught on plurk at bloodeagles. Can't wait to get involved!

Good evening, everyone, and Merry Christmas! Our first event will see the introduction of our newest NPC, an Inventor by the name of Tin Kay. Presently, she needs every hand she can get in the city to help round up all the robots she'd created, currently overcharged by a surge of Ellenium and out of control. For those who help here, there WILL be an OOC reward, and if enough people participate, an area that will lead to further development in potentially fixing Veloxia for the first time may be unlocked.

Heads up that she comes from a similar situation of being trapped in a city with no apparent way of escape— Her city being known as just The City, is actually built millions of miles out and up into space, originating from Earth. So literally no escape for her. This may be slightly different for her, but not really? She'll just want to science all the things to figure out Veloxia's function while trying to get back home. There's going to be more clearly set info on Cibo's understanding of Promitto and how it relates to The City soon on her profile hur.

Anyway, I bring to you Jade Harley from Homestuck. She's an energetic science-loving sixteen year old girl that also happens to have some...furry appendages. Yes, she is a dog-girl and comes with a nifty witch-outfit. It doesn't change much about her except she loves the hell out of ear scritches and sometimes has a craving for meat + desire to bark at things. She's also OP as hell but since she's lost her space magic she's just a happy go lucky girl that loves science/building robots/nuclear physics and is really damn good at shooting guns.

As with most Homestuck characters, though, she has an obnoxious text color that she types in, so I have a permissions post for that here if you don't want me tagging with that color.

Err, as for anything else, I can be reached at noctowlnal though PMs are enabled so you don't have to add me (I sleep at weird hours and like to spam so yeah). Look forward to playing with everybody!
