The room you are in is dim, lit only by what looks like rudimentary emergency lighting. The walls of this circular setting are of polished copper, engraved with both organic designs and what look like lines of code. In the center of the room is a behemoth of a contraption-- It is clunky, all brass and bolts and hissing pipes, but screens and keyboards lend the idea that it’s some sort of computer. Connected to it via heavy cables and wires is a woman with burnished gold skin. She looks at you, both curiously and expectantly.

She is not the only one in the room. Three other women are gathered before you, observing you and the other newcomers with expressions of surprise. They obviously hadn't expected you to drop in so suddenly. You can ask them questions, but what they'll be able to tell you is up for debate.

If you happen to take a look outside the narrow, arching windows in the walls you'll see a city. A large one, well built and beautiful. But it is very noticeably empty.

What you do from here is your choice.

[This certainly isn't the void she found herself in before.

Jade's looking around the room, ears twitching to try and catch any stray sounds that might clue her in to what the hell is happening, but is catching nothing.

Her powers don't seem to be working either, though she still has her neat witch pajamas and her cute dog ears, which is fine! But...the feeling that she did something bad is still nagging at her as well as the feeling that she might be dead.]

Um...

[She should be asking more questions like "is this some fucked up dreambubble?" or "where is my brother?" but she is too stunned by what's going on around her.]

[As if it wasn't crazy enough that she'd suddenly found herself inside this factory that looked like it belonged in a trashy pulp novel or a German film, it seemed like the girl standing next to her had ears on top of her head. Not fake ones, either - they were moving and twitching like a curious dog's.]

And I guess me pinching you would not help. [Or slapping, that would be very rude.] It looks like it plucked out a lot of people from different places and put them all here as well.

...[And all Betty gets is a blank stare in return. Jade understood Americans, though she had no idea what Americans would have to do with them being here, but what about guys named Jerry?]

I...[Hitler? The name sounds kinda familiar, maybe something she read in a book once, but Jade's always been more interested in science and happier things than history.] Actually, I don't. I've never been anywhere else besides my island.

Huh. [Might as well ask.] Everyone on your island got ears like that?

Ahahaha...no, it's just me! In the sense of living on the island as well as having the ears, it used to be my dog as well but he's gone now. The ears are a long story.

[there's a girl maybe a few years older than Jade, wearing a big, poofy ballgown. She's staring at everything with wide eyes, clutching a sword and a small buckler: not exactly things you'd bring to a party.]

[but man, those are some cute ears. Which is why she momentarily forgets she's not where she's supposed to be and stares at them instead.]

[oh. She said it out loud. She flushes the color of her pink hair, taking a step back.]

I-I mean...I beg your pardon! I've never seen anything like that before...

[Jade seems pretty nonchalant about all of this, she only tugs on her ears and grins.]

Yes, they are very cute! Don't worry about it, I know they are unusual!

[She looks at Estelle for a moment, up and down. Jade's certainly never seen a girl with pink hair before. The sword and the dress, though, not so unusual.]

Ohhhh, gosh, you're so pretty! Were you at a party before you were brought here?

[Right. Because calling someone you just met pretty isn't unusual at all. Forgive her, she had to raise herself on a solitary island.]

[she turns a bit redder, if only because the people who usually compliment her never sound this sincere.]

Y, you really think so? Thank you! [she bows hastily, if a bit awkwardly because of the armaments she's carrying.]

A party? No, I was--oh! I was trying to leave the castle! [she looks as if something's just dawned on her.] I suppose I...succeeded?

[Jade is genuine in about every single thing she says. The mention of a castle has her ears perking up and her eyes widening.]

A castle? Yes, I think we all succeeded in leaving the place we were before, although I wasn't exactly sure where I was myself. Does that mean you are a princess? [She's read at least a few fairy tales.] Oh! Or is that not something anyone is supposed to know about?

[her eyes get even wider, if possible.]

[Then she draws herself upright a little, trying to recover.]

Um! I'm not--I mean...

[a little late to deny it now. She just nods urgently in answer to the last question.]

I-I'm sorry... [she bows again, still stammering.] M-my name is Estellise. I don't mean to cause trouble or anything, so please don't tell anyone...!

Don't worry about it! It'll be a secret, just like nature intended!

[Jade that is a silly thing to say, she's apparently aware of how silly it is because she's smiling.

She's also not entirely sure how to respond to the gesture, so she just bows back.]

[ Meanwhile? There's a girl sitting here who looks like nothing more than an electronic projection--in fact, you can see she's some sort of hologram, and on the fritz, her form blinking out and making noise on occasion, or there being static...

She's just as confused, for different reasons, but she's got to stop and stare at Jade, because she has DOG EARS. Stop, stare, and make starry eyes. Could she... be a cosplayer?! ]

... Excuse me... this might sound a little strange to ask, I hope I'm not bothering you, but those are fake, right? Who are you?

[ Cosplaying as, she means, but. ]

[Jade stops herself and stares, tilting her head in a dog-ish manner.]

No, it's not bothering me at all. They are real! [Her ears swivel around some more just to show how damn real they are.] And...who am I? My name is Jade Harley, I am the Witch of Space. Is this a quiz?

What, really...? Like, you're not another AI, are you? You're human? But those are real...! That's amazing! I thought you were a cosplayer, so I asked because I thought you were being some character or something, but... wow. I'm *Hyun-ae... nice to meet you, Jade! You're speaking English, right? I'm glad Veloxia seemed to have some sort of translation software installed in her, this would've been a nightmare otherwise, since I can't access my databanks on the ship from here.

[ Usually no fursuits involved! She would show you, Jade, but she lost all her fun dressup programs during her transfer. It's a shame. She misses them.

Well, AI stands for Artificial Intelligence--I'm basically a compiled databank compressed onto a core in a ship's computer. I run the filing system there. ... It's kind of a long story, like I guess your ears must be! Or... I was? I think Veloxia must've transferred me to her network's drive and put a projection program into this holo device... it's a little low-tech, how it's running, actually, but it seems to work just fine anyway! ... Though I seem to have lost most of my access to what I had back on the ship, as it was empty, I'd much rather be talking to people... I haven't seen or heard anyone in a long time! More importantly, where are you from? Earth? Or a colony? I'm really curious!

Oh, hehe, I know about AI--I'm a scientist when I have time off from Witchiness. Wow, that's cool, Veloxia really must have ported you over here, just the same as she brought us. [She looks down at her hands for a moment, trying to will a spark of Space magic into existence but finding nothing, she frowns.] I lost my abilities, too. I feel like I have been rolled back to an earlier version of myself.

I'm from Earth, I lived on an island out in the middle of the ocean before I entered the game and Earth was kiiiinda destroyed by meteors. Since I entered the game, a super-advanced simulation program, I was able to survive along with my friends. We are intent on beating the game now and surviving the onslaught of crazy assholes that want to kill us.

Also, you're from Earth... oh, I've ALWAYS wanted to see Earth or live on it myself! But I'm an AI, and I was stuck on a ship all my life, so... I'd given up hope of ever seeing it. Is it true it has a ground? And a sky? And a real night and day? What kind of game were you playing?

Yes! Earth had all of those things. I'm really sorry you never got to see it, though...but hey, Promitto seems like it's on a version of Earth at least, maybe we can go exploring together some time!

As for the game, it's a fight to the death sort of deal where we have a chance of making a new world to replace the one that got destroyed...unfortunately our attempts at that are being sidetracked by villains trying to kill us, so it's become more of a race to finish first. It's not very fun at all, but I am doing my best to make sure my friends survive! [Even if there are some worrying gaps in her memory that she's not sure about.]
